Brainstorm Productions is one of Australia’s largest and most respected educational theatre companies, performing to over 360,000 students every year.
Brainstorm Productions was founded 35 years ago by a teacher and school counsellor, both university lecturers in education and the performing arts. We have since maintained a reputation for delivering high quality performances that are relevant to the concerns of Australian students.
Our team is committed to bringing about positive social change through theatre, empowering students with practical strategies to enhance their mental health, resilience and wellbeing. Each performance is followed by a Q&A and curriculum-aligned classroom resources, designed to support your school’s existing wellbeing, cyber safety and anti bullying programs. In 2019, 100% of teachers said they would recommend Brainstorm Productions to other schools.
Emotional connection through theatre
We offer an immersive learning experience, taking students on a journey through different perspectives & emotions.
Each program includes a suite of post-performance classroom activities, aligned with key areas of National & State curriculum.
Our performances demonstrate practical skills for self-awareness, self-management, social skills & help-seeking.
We address issues that matter to students and provide realistic strategies that can be applied in their daily lives.
We tell stories of hope and resilience, inspiring students to draw on their strengths and values to face life’s challenges.
Research & consultation
Our content is informed by the latest evidence & developed in consultation with students, teachers & psychologists.
Our performances inspire students to enact positive change in their school and online communities, encouraging empathy, respect, compassion and social responsibility. We employ professional young actors with a shared vision for student wellbeing, who are excellent role models. We are proudly independent and unfunded, with a focus on creating stories that are responsive to the changing needs of Australian students. We believe a genuine care for children and young people is central to our success.
Brainstorm supports a range of charities, including OXFAM, UNICEF, UNHCR, WWF Australia, Youth Off the Streets, Amnesty International, Salvation Army and Medecins Sans Frontieres Australia. We are committed to sustainability in all aspects of our work – our Northern NSW office is powered by solar energy, all marketing material is printed on recycled paper and we offset our vehicle emissions with Green Fleet. We also contribute to a more sustainable future by bringing the performances to our audiences.
