We’re proudly supporting Privacy Awareness Week, centred around the theme: “Privacy – it’s everyone’s business.” The theme is a timely reminder that privacy protection isn’t just up to individuals – it’s a shared responsibility across homes, schools, workplaces and communities.
For students, the digital world is central to how they learn, connect and express themselves. But with this opportunity comes risk. Teaching young people how to protect their personal information online is critical to helping them stay safe, confident and in control. Schools play a key role by embedding digital literacy into the curriculum, creating opportunities for discussion, and encouraging responsible online behaviour.
The eSafety Commissioner provides a wide range of free resources for educators, parents and carers, children and young people, to help students navigate online privacy. These include curriculum-aligned lesson plans, professional learning resources for educators, and conversation starters for families, all designed to build skills in managing personal information, understanding privacy settings, and recognising risks like scams and impersonation. These resources can be integrated into school programs to support learning and spark meaningful conversations.
At Brainstorm Productions, we are proud to be a Trusted eSafety Provider, delivering live theatre performances that engage students in real-life scenarios about online safety, privacy, respectful relationships and help-seeking. Our cyber safety programs align with the Australian Curriculum and are supported by teacher resources to reinforce key messages in the classroom.
This Privacy Awareness Week, let’s work together to help young people take control of their digital lives – because privacy really is everyone’s business.
