Safer Internet Day is a global event dedicated to creating a safer online world for everyone.
Tuesday 7 February 2023 marks the 20th Safer Internet Day. We’ll be reflecting on how the internet has changed over the last two decades and how we can make the internet a better place in the future.

The world is more connected than ever before and cyber safety education is essential for helping children and young people create positive experiences online. As a Trusted eSafety Provider, Brainstorm Productions is committed to raising awareness about the importance of online safety education and supporting schools to develop effective cyber safety programs for their students.

We are joining the eSafety Commissioner to support Safer Internet Day and we encourage you to get involved and Connect. Reflect. Protect.

  • Connect safely and with purpose – by keeping apps and devices secure and using social
    media in positive ways.
  • Reflect before we act – by taking a moment to consider how what we do and say online
    may affect others.
  • Protect ourselves and others by taking action – tell family, friends or colleagues about
eSafety and visit esafety.gov.au for advice, support and to report online abuse.

We’ll have two teams performing in schools on Safer Internet day. Our actors will help students to CONNECT by showing them how to communicate in positive ways on games and apps, and demonstrating the importance of keeping their accounts private and secure. They’ll encourage students to REFLECT on how their actions affect others and show them ways to be kind and respectful online. They’ll also provide skills and information to help students PROTECT themselves and others, including how to report bullying, how to be an upstander and how to seek help from trusted adults. The eSafety Commissioner also has a great campaign kit for schools that includes customisable content for newsletters, school apps and social media, information about eSafety’s Virtual Classroom and parent webinars, curriculum-aligned classroom resources, a student voice survey, posters to display at your school, and a ‘Connect.Reflect.Protect’ Chatterbox activity for primary school aged students. Download the educator resources and more via the eSafety website.

By sharing the ‘Connect. Reflect. Protect.’ message, we can work towards making every day a
Safer Internet Day. Visit esafety.gov.au to sign up and learn more.
